The Inscrutable Assurance of God

If I said that tomorrow it will rain, and it does… you might say, “Wow, good guess.” If I said that tomorrow there will be an volcanic eruption and thousands of people will die and it happened, you might say, “Scott… that’s a little spooky.” It seems that the precision and level of predictability of a prediction governs its impressiveness and its appreciation by others. If a prediction is fulfilled to great detail and is something that others would see as mere chance, we tend to become more marveled at the absolute incredible validity of the prediction.

This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to preach at our church here in Perú–which is a real privilege by the way. Since it was… Read More…

Quick Little Update

We apologize for being so silent lately. We have been SO VERY busy, and have neglected keeping everyone up to date on us.

Our apologies.

Some things that have happened since we last wrote:

* Penny is now 3 months old and has begun sleeping through the night! (I’m sure you can tell who’s writing this)
* Pastor Scott and his wife Anjanette Williamson have returned to Cusco from the UK, which relieves Scott (Dillon) from doing full-time pulpit supply for this church.  (although we are still attending, and Scott does still preach some)
* We took a trip to Lima to visit our friends the Listros, and make Penny’s American Citizenship official!
* Rachel and Mark have had a stomach bug for a while,… Read More…

Entre las Tinieblas [Between the Darkness]

This Sunday morning’s church service was unlike any other service I’ve experienced here in Peru. Really is was unlike any other experience I’ve ever had, but I think there is some specificity in that we’re here in Peru. First, let me preface by saying that probably the majority of the readers of this post won’t believe… Read More…

Merry Christmas!

Yesterday, Sunday, I had the opportunity to preach at our church here in Cusco. I preached on Acts 3:22-26 where Peter reminds the people (via Moses’ words) that Jesus was the promised prophet who brought great blessing to turn us away from sin. I used this passage to give a message of hope for Christmas for those are without– without family, without money to buy gifts, without food, etc. Jesus didn’t bring material gifts to give his children for Christmas. He brought us hope of a new life… free from our own selves.

So many people, however, know this truth and still pass Christmas very very sad. There is loneliness, poverty, and stress of the holidays that completely clouds are judgement… Read More…

Vacation, Visiting, and…. some other word that starts with V.

Vacation and Visits
For the past three and a half weeks we’ve been traveling around the world. As many of you know (and many that don’t know), we visited our friends and family in Delaware for a few weeks and very well enjoyed our time. It was busy, as everyone warned us it would be. It was… very busy. It was so busy that most of us became sick and we had to cancel on friends and schedules became very messed up. It was a shame, really, because in the end it meant we didn’t get to spend as much time with people as we had hoped. We knew that going into it being a short vacation and wanting to… Read More…
