Partnering in ministry and building a support network

Scott and Meghan will most likely have spent over one and half years raising support for their three year term in Peru. The process can take even longer than that, but their hope is that by January of 2008, they will have enough support to leave for the missionfield. How will God use you in establishing His work in Peru? Will it be through the Dillons, another ministry, or another missionary family? The Quechua people are in need of the Gospel and there are few missionary workers in the hinterlands among them.

Prayer and Financial Support

Scott and Meghan are extremely committed to establishing partnerships with their supporters. No one should give blindly and just hope that their time and money goes towards something well worth it. Instead, Scott and Meghan want you to be extremely well informed about where they are going, who they are ministering to, and what they hope to be able to do while they are there. Knowing their missionfield will help you, the supporter, be a better... well... supporter. How could you support their work if you did not know it? Therefore, information and understanding is the first step in becomming a supporter. This website is designed to help this in two ways: One, to give valuable information towards the ministry and mission of the Dillons. Two, to provide semi-frequent updates as to their support status, their well-being, and recent activities that they were able to participate in (the Journal section of this site). Communication is extremely important and with today's technology, it should be fairly simple to keep supporters updated.

Prayer is integral to any work of the ministry. God ordains things to happen, and not to happen, according to our prayers. Therefore, the power and assistance of prayer is so important that the Dillons seek after your prayers consistently. Pray for their support raising, for their travel plans, for their future time in language school and in ministry in Huaraz. But most importantly, pray for the Quechua people. Pray that God would open eyes and open hears to witness, taste, and be delighted in the Gospel. This is the best way a supporter can pray.

Financial support is also integral. The costs of travel, of language school, of preparation, of living expenses, etc. are all raised as part of one big support package. There are one-time costs (i.e. language school) and there are monthly costs (i.e. rent, food). Monthly giving is encouraged because it naturally draws the supporter into the work and keeps the heart of the Quechua on their minds. It also provides the more necessary core support for the missionaries. Please feel free to contact Scott or Meghan about their financial support needs as the details will not be disclosed on this site.

Frequently Asked Questions about Support Raising

How do I begin supporting Scott and Meghan?
Ahh... simple answer. Fill out the rear section of one of their prayer cards. Don't have a pray card. Download one here, or simply call/email and ask for one via our contact section of the site. Simple.

Can I give multiple one-time gifts instead of monthly? Or, can I commit monthly but pay quarterly?
Yes, there is no schedule, plan, or even guidlines when it comes to supporting the Dillons financially. You can give once, twice, or however many times a year. There is no particulars. All that is asked is that the supporter attempts to make some kind of commitment that they will be able to keep. No one wants you to go broke trying to send a missionary to the field. Instead, commitment to what is reasonable and simply pay that amount when it is convenient (monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, etc).

What are some of the financial obligations that Scott and Meghan will have?
In some sense, the Dillons are raising support for a ministry, not just for them. The financial picture is broken down into all the areas of need. These include personal items like housing, food, and health insurance. However, other expenses are included in their support like ministry expenses and missionary home-care support (from Mission to the World).

Are the Dillons really planning on having a baby in a third world country?
YES! Why not? There are 570,000+ births a year in Peru. The Dillons look forward to raising their first two children in their early years while on the missionfield and at this point they are comfortable in the healthcare provided to them.

My question isn't answered here!
Please feel free to contact Scott and Meghan via the contact page. They will get the message you send and respond to you, most likely within a few days.
