"Missions is the overflow of our delight in God because missions is the overflow of God's delight in being God"
- John Piper -
Meghan grew up in a Christian home, dedicating her life to Christ shortly after high school.
Scott was raised in
a non-Christian home and trusted Christ during his sophomore year in high school.
The two met during those years through a drama ministry program at Meghan's church. Growing to be good
friends, the Dillons were married in the fall of 2003. Scott graduated from North Western College in 2006
with a B.A. of Intercultural Ministries. In July, 2007, their first daughter, Rachel Elizabeth, was born.
Their passion for the mission work grew increasingly as they sought
the Lord's direction and encouragement from family and friends.
"When Meghan and I first went to Peru, it was because our church was sending a one week team there to do a vacation bible school with missionaries that our church supports. We learned about the Quechua people and the missionfield before we went, but the personal experience was much more fruitful than the education and we really felt attracted to the field there. At first, we were more attracted to missions than Peru specifically. Meghan was deeply interested in going back for an extended time, but I was willing to consider a different location. We thought about it, prayed about it, and came to point that we were baffled by our increasing desire for the missionfield and in turn an increasing confusion as to where we should go. In a sense, we didn't fall in love with the people first... we fell in love with missions first. It was at that point that we contacted Mission to the World. I think it was one week later that we knew we wanted to go to Peru. Just when we think God will never answer our prayers, He is simply waiting on us to really wait and listen."
Scott and Meghan went through Interview
and Orientation with Mission to the World in June of 2006 and began support raising that following fall.
Scott took a team of people from theirhome church Crossroads Presbyterian Church back to Peru shortly after I/O in July 2006.
Formal plans for their arrival in Peru for their three year term are in progress.
The Dillon family has four members: Scott, Meghan, Rachel, and unknown. Unknown will become Mark or Natalie one day in late May, 2008. Scott's birthday is July 13, Meghan's is August 31, Rachel's is July 3, and the new baby is due May 25.
